With the preponderance of moose and bear and snow in this Alaskan fairy tale, our book club hostess found a challenge to fit her food to the menus in the book. She opted for yummy pot roast, carrots and potatoes boiled in beer which we all devoured as well as her home-made yeast rolls. And she made a yellow (mix) cake into which she “glopped” (her word) cranberry sauce pre-baking. She iced it with lemon butter cream.
Had we fresh snow, I would have insisted on making snow cream the old fashioned way. Scoop a bowl full of clean fresh snow. Add sugar to taste, a spoonful of vanilla and cream enough to turn the mixture into some resemblance of ice cream. Then get a very large spoon and prepare for brain freeze.
